During the extraordinary session of the Assembly of the Croatian Hunting Association, Mato Čičak was elected as the new president, succeeding the previous leadership.
The extraordinary election assembly of the Croatian Hunting Association convened at the Association's premises in response to a request from 34 members of the assembly. Initially, the session commenced with the participation of 63 members; however, members from the Hunting Association of Brod-Posavina County subsequently exited the assembly, resulting in a total of 60 members present. In accordance with the Statute, the agenda for the assembly was proposed by the requester of the extraordinary assembly and was subsequently amended and adopted through a majority vote by the members present. Following the voting on two proposals regarding the working bodies, the assembly was presided over by Vlado Kireta. The previous president, Ivica Budor, was subject to a no-confidence vote, which resulted in 46 votes against him, leading to the dismissal of members from the Assembly bodies.
During the electoral segment of the assembly, Antun Blažević nominated Mato Čičak, the president of the Hunting Association of Zagreb County, for the position of president. Given the absence of additional candidates, the vote was conducted publicly, resulting in 59 members of the assembly casting their votes in favor, with one member opting to abstain. Following the election of the president, Mato Čičak put forth the following five nominations for vice president: Matko Knežić, Željko Nekić, Miroslav Buneta, Vinko Pavlić, and Goran Kaniški. These nominations were subsequently approved by a majority vote, securing their positions as vice presidents.
During the continuation of the Assembly session, the governing bodies of the Association, along with the members of the Executive Board, were duly elected.
In his post-election speech, Mato Čičak expressed his deep honor in being elected President of the Croatian Hunting Association. He thanked everyone who voted and urged collective effort for the Association's betterment. He emphasized that from now on, the Association will operate solely through the Assembly and the Executive Board, which will make all decisions. Čičak is hopeful that in a few months, they will show progress in addressing the Association’s issues. He noted the current revision is unsatisfactory and that there’s a need for greater awareness of the Association's situation. He also mentioned the upcoming Hunting Act, stressing the importance of prioritizing hunting interests. "I invite all of you to work together for the benefit of hunters who elected us; we have a significant responsibility to support them," he concluded.
Vlado Kireta emphasised the importance of ensuring accuracy and fostering amicable relations, as well as promoting collaborative efforts for the advancement of hunting. He expressed his gratitude to all participants for their professionalism and subsequently concluded the Assembly at 12:11 p.m.
