At the 2nd Memorial Cup in Hunting Archery "Đuro Dečak," the team of the Hunting Association "Kamenjarka" from Tisno (Joško Reškov, Alexander Tuček, Ivica Meić-Sidić) secured the first place in the hunting trap discipline, which involves shooting flying targets (clay pigeons). The second place was claimed by the team of the Hunting Association "Pheasant" from Špišić Bukovica (Tomislav Brlas, Majkl Brlas, Tihomir Brlas), while the third place was taken by the team of the Hunting Association "Pheasant" from Ozalj (Alen Puljak, Neven Lukšić, Sandi Puljak).
The Memorial Cup took place at the shooting range of the Hunting Association "Pheasant" in Špišić Bukovica, under the auspices of the Croatian Hunting Federation (HLS) to honor the memory of Đuro Dečak, a colonel-general in the Croatian Army. Dečak had an illustrious military career and was the longest-serving president of Croatian hunters. He was born near Bušetina.
Marijo Klement, the Deputy Prefect of Virovitica-Podravina County, Hrvoje Miler, the Mayor of Špišić Bukovica Municipality, the Dečak family, and the executive committee of the Croatian Hunting Federation attended the competition.
Marijo Klement, the deputy prefect of the Virovitica-Podravina County, emphasized in his speech that "General Dečak's contribution to the creation of the Republic of Croatia, as well as the development of hunting, is extremely great, and they consider him one of the pride of the county, which they have thanks to him".
In a short speech, Mato Grgić, vice president of the Croatian Hunting Federation, "greeted the crowd, wished all competitors good results and pointed out that hunting associations are the base of Croatian hunting." Croatian Hunting Federation vice president Nevenko Jakopović opened the tournament with an honorary shot.
In the competitive segment of the event, a team comprising three hunters representing 20 county hunting associations and the Hunting Association of the City of Zagreb participated. In the exhibition part, the Huntresses, consisting of Emina Đurašević, Dragana Grubačević, and Martina Hirjanić, secured first place with 85 points. The Croatian Hunting Federation team (Miljenko Kruc, Mato Grgić, and Nevenko Jakopović) claimed second place with 81 points. In comparison, the Association of Volunteers and Veterans of the Homeland War of the Republic of Croatia team secured the third position with 73 points. Mladen Kolarek and Hrvoje Selak officiated the competition.
The winners were honored with statues of the esteemed colonel-general of the Croatian Army and generous cash prizes.
Đuro Dečak, a prominent wartime commander of the Croatian Army, made a significant contribution to establishing the Republic of Croatia. Serving as the Croatian Hunting Federation president for 24 years, he played a pivotal role in upholding the association's rich traditions and promoting the ethos of unity and harmony, which are fundamental aspects of the hunting community's endeavours in the Republic of Croatia.
